The Gingeometer

One of the quirks of ukrm, was the fact that (when it was a higher daily volume group) people used to call out “Ginge” when a URL was posted more than once. It was called a “Ginge” affectionately after one of the posters to the group as he was always trying to keep up at the back. As such, I developed a script to track all these posted URLs and to stick them into a searchable database. You can see the page here (the results table does need a bit of formatting):

NOTE: AS A LOT OF THE URLS HAD TO BE ADDED MANUALLY TO POPULATE THE INITIAL DATABASE, THE URL POSTING USER NAME MAY COME UP AS “MANUALLY_ADDED”. IF YOU WANT CREDIT FOR A PARTICULAR URL, PLEASE DROP ME A LINE

The results page is a bit naff at the moment, but I’m working on a nice style 🙂 Oh, if you know how to create fixed width columns using CSS, please, please drop me a line (use the contact link up there). The database is updated on an hourly basis. If you can’t find a recent URL, come back in an hour!

My plans for the future: Other options will become available, comment additions and dead link notifications. When I get round to it that is. Step by step please. The search engine accepts either complete URL’s or multiple keywords.

Any suggestions (or help on the CSS) just hit the “Contact Me” link
