Day 3 – Cheget Peak

On the Sunday, the first bit of good news was the fact that our luggage had finally arrived. On popping down to breakfast, like an excited schoolboy, I saw my rucksack waiting for me. Just in time. This meant that we had the right equipment to undertake our first acclimatisation hike, to a place called Cheget peak (just over 3000m mark). This was a very easy walk, going up very well established footpaths and was the first walk as a complete team. The weather did turn miserable towards the end but we all had the right equipment to shelter us from the elements. We were warned about going too far just in case we crossed the border into Georgia. Apparently Georgian border controls are pretty strict and they don’t take any prisoners if you see what I mean.
