Outlook and Dovecot self signed certificates.
January 28th, 2010Another issue I had was that I use a self signed certificate on my Dovecot server. Every time I started Outlook, it’d come up with a warning about the certificate note being verified (sorry, can’t remember the exact error).
Suffice to say, all I had to do, was accept that I wasn’t using a valid certificate and Outlook would use it and connect to my Dovecot server.
Still annoying though, so I had to fix it.
- The way I did this, was to download the public certificate from my linux box to my windows desktop
- I then renamed it to “dovecot.cer”
- I then right clicked and asked to install the certificate into the certificate store.
Problem sorted and gone away…
Microsoft Office 2003 keeps asking me to accept the EULA in Windows 7
January 28th, 2010I’ve upgraded my PC to Windows 7 64-bit.
The problem is that after reinstalling Office 2003 (a legit copy, I’ll have you know!), every time I open an Office application (e.g. Word, Excel or Outlook), I have to accept or decline (if I decline the application closes) the Microsoft Office End User Licence Agreement. This is a right PITA. Some of the solutions such as :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884202
and accepting the licence (license for our American cousins) as an administrator (if you’re not already an admin) may work for you. In my case, it didn’t. I’m already an admin, but this EULA window kept on popping up.
However, this works. Bizarrely.
- Open up the C: drive.
- Click on “Program Files (x86)” and then “Microsoft Office” and then “Office11″.
- Scroll down until you see the Excel .exe.
- Right click and select “run as administrator". Accept that user agreement one more time and you’ll never have to do it again. This also accepts this for other apps such as Word, etc.
