The project is still a WiP, but has taken a back seat for a while.
One of the issues I’ve been facing is that of the applications required to burn the firmware onto the ATMega 168 in linux. It’s all related to the compilation of GCC for use with AVR and the dependancies (GMP, MPFR and MPD). One of the issues with MPD was that the version on the MPD/MPC site was not the latest and I had to find this elsewhere.
That’s not to say that I haven’t been able to burn the firmware on the ATMega chip, but when I connect the breadboarded circuit to the hacked router, I sometimes get garbled characters showing in between the radio station listing. Following on from searches on the interweb, it appears that this is related to a “burn fuse” command that I haven’t executed (Sorry, I’m remembering the issues from the top of my head, as I’m not at home to go into detail on this).
I’ll update this post (possibly, if I get a round tuit) about what has been going on. Suffice to say, having a Mac PC/Laptop would be so much easier.
